Rose Pellicano is a botanical artist based in Westhampton, New York.
Rose has always been inspired by nature both in her landscapes and botanical paintings. She began focusing on botanical painting in 1995. Her work is in the permanent collection of The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation. Commissioned work has been published in national magazines, in advertisements for the National Peanut Board, rebranding logos for FIG Advertising Agency and in the publications Today’s Botanical Artists, Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic, The Gardner Magazine, Horticulture Magazine and Botanical Art Techniques. She has served on the board of the American Society of Botanical Artists and she is a member of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Florilegium Society contributing a number of paintings to their collection. As a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists she has been included in ASBA exhibitions at The Horticultural Society of New York, The United States Botanic Garden inWashington D.C., The Smithsonian, The Royal Horticultural Society in London and Kew Gardens in the United Kingdom, The New York Botanic Garden, The Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, and many others throughout the United States. In addition to solo exhibitions, her work has been included in many juried exhibitions.
As a member of the group Art Botanica she contributed to many touring exhibitions including Native Flora of Long Island, East Meets West, which travelled to Japanan, Flora of the Bible, which was curated by the Bible Museum in Monroe, Louisiana and traveled to many gardens and museums throughout the United States over several years.
As a teacher of botanical painting for over 25 years, Rose inspired many students to love the discipline. She has taught botanical painting at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton, N.Y., the New York Botanical Garden, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Old Westbury Gardens as well as in private workshops and classes.
